SMS

SMS reaches any mobile phone, which makes it the natural fallback when a customer isn’t on WhatsApp.

  1. Go to Settings → Channels and choose Connect SMS.
  2. You’ll set it up with SendSeven, our messaging partner: pick a number, or a sender name where the destination country allows one.
  3. You come straight back to Renotify, and SMS is ready to use as a step or a fallback.

SMS has no templates and no approval step: each automation step or broadcast has its own SMS text. Keep in mind:

  • Length is billed in segments. A plain-text message fits 160 characters in one segment. Emoji and some accented characters switch the message to a format with 70 characters per segment. Longer messages are split and billed per segment.
  • Buttons become numbered options. When a chatbot or reply step offers buttons, SMS customers see them as a numbered list and can reply with the number.
  • Links are shortened and tracked, which saves characters and counts clicks.
  • Opt-outs are built in. Replying STOP stops all messages; START resumes them. See Consent and opt-outs.

Under Settings → Channels → SMS destinations, limit SMS to the countries you serve. It stops fraudsters triggering texts to premium numbers abroad, which you would otherwise pay for. With the list empty, SMS can go to any country.

A message to a country outside the list isn’t sent; it’s recorded with the reason Destination country not allowed and the automation tries the next channel.

SMS is paid from your messaging balance at a price per segment that depends on the destination country. The pricing page shows current rates.
